Overview
USAID supports the use of safe, legal, effective technologies to advance development objectives. Where appropriate, this may include Genetically Engineered (GE) organisms (also known as Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), Living Modified Organisms (LMO), transgenic organisms, biotech organisms, etc.). These are defined as living organisms into which scientists have intentionally introduced genetic material, using a range of potential technological approaches.
