The USAID-funded Partnership for Innovations program strengthens Central Asian civil society organizations for better engagement with their local and national governments to promote positive policy changes and improve the lives of citizens across the region. The $4.9 million program is implemented by the Civil Society Development Association – ARGO in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan (September 2016 – September 2020).
The USAID-funded Enhanced Enabling Environment program promotes an enabling legal framework for civil society in Central Asia to support a more vibrant and sustainable democratic culture in the region.
The United States Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has committed an additional 348 million tenge ($800,000) to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak in Kazakhstan.
Ravshan Nazarov is very close to obtaining his attorney’s license. After receiving his law degree, he has been interning as an attorney’s assistant prior to becoming a full-fledged lawyer, as required by Uzbekistan’s regulations.
To stop the spread of COVID-19, people across Central Asia are staying home and practicing social distancing to help flatten the curve. Yet quarantine and isolation can carry additional risks for families experiencing multiple stressors. Small shared spaces, limited mobility, uncertainty about the future, and loss of income are just a few of the factors that can build to domestic violence.
