Objective:This activity is aimed at increasing the literacy level of the deaf children in schools operated by the four major service providers of the deaf education in Jamaica.
Program Targets:The primary focus will be on improving the language development of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students through guided language enrichment activities, introduction to Jamaican Sign Language (JSL) as a curriculum subject and training of teachers and parents in appropriate techniques for learning support. Emphasis will be also be given to coaching and mentorship for school administrators and students to build confidence in the implementation of the bilingual approach and general instructional practices.
