La nueva estrategia de desarrollo y cooperación de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID) en la República Dominicana para los próximos cinco años (2014-2018) se elaboró a través de un amplio proceso de consulta con diversos sectores de la sociedad dominicana y se armonizó con las prioridades de las Estrategia Nacional de Desarrollo (END 2019-2030) de la Republica Dominicana. La estrategia tiene como meta principal “Mejorar la Seguridad Ciudadana para Promover el Crecimiento Económico en la República Dominicana”.

In preparing this Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS), the Mission held more than 40 meetings with stakeholders from the Government of the Dominican Republic (GODR), civil society, implementing partners, the private sector, bilateral and multilateral donors, Dominican private sector foundations, church leaders, and United States Government (USG) partners. The Mission made a special effort to talk directly with beneficiaries. We met with beneficiaries in hospitals, HIV/AIDS treatment centers, bateyes (poor, rural communities inhabited primarily by Haitian sugar cane plantation workers), with community leaders and youth in urban slums, and with clients of community justice houses.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/African and Latin American Resilience to Climate Change (ARCC) Project conducted the Dominican Republic Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment (DR VA) from December 2012 to May 2013 in response to requests from the USAID/Latin America and Caribbean Bureau and USAID/Dominican Republic. The assessment seeks to improve understanding of climate change impacts on watersheds and coastal resources, and the people dependent on them, in four climate-sensitive targeted hotspots.
