Over 30 regional development practitioners have benefitted from USAID’s global expertise in delivering youth-led programming.
On September 17-19, USAID/ESC hosted a three-day training course on Positive Youth Development, which built the knowledge and skills of USG staff, partners and implementers to meaningfully include youth in development initiatives. It was based on applied research and USAID’s deep experience in youth-led programming around the world.
Lead facilitators for the course were USAID/Washington-based Michael Mc Cabe, Agency Youth Coordinator, and Nancy Taggart, Senior Youth and Workforce Advisor. Themes included: the elements of Positive Youth Development and its results driven approach, the primary reasons for engaging youth in programming, and strategies for integrating youth throughout the program cycle.
USAID’s major partner in the region, The Caribbean Development Bank, sent many of its youth staff and appreciated the practical and skill-building approach.
