In 2011, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, USAID supported the establishment of a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) high school for boys (grades 10-12) in Giza, followed by the Maadi STEM high school for girls in 2012. Building on the success of these schools, USAID helped establish 12 additional STEM schools in Alexandria, Assiut, Dakahlia, Gharbia, Ismailia, Kafr El Sheikh, Luxor, Menoufia, Qalyoubia, Qena, Red Sea, and Sharqia governorates. To continue this successful trajectory, USAID continues to support the concept through two activities.
