This online training provides GH Program Managers, Agreement Officer’s Representatives/Contracting Officer’s Representatives (AORs/CORs), Activity Managers, and other stakeholders with an introduction to the GH Reg. 216 process, which is also known as the Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) process. The course also provides a roadmap for planning and implementing health programs in accordance with the Agency’s legal requirements. Other key objectives of the course include ensuring that learners are able to:
- Identify applicable legal and policy guidelines governing the GH environmental compliance program
- Explain the importance of following the IEE process
- Describe the GH IEE process, including the use of a hypothetical case study to illustrate key steps
- Understand the roles and responsibilities involved in the IEE process
- Explain the relationship between environmental screening and Threshold Decisions
- Describe how environmental monitoring and oversight should be performed
- Identify where IEE documentation should be stored
Learners may complete the self-paced course in one sitting or over multiple sessions and will need approximately two hours to complete it. In order to receive a certificate of completion, learners must complete the course and receive a score of 80% or higher on the final assessment. USAID staff, such as AORs/CORs, who complete this course may claim two Continuous Learning Points (CLPs).
