Since 1965, USAID has been the world leader in family planning programming in the developing world. Over the course of USAID’s history, we have provided voluntary family planning and related health services in nearly 60 countries. Of these 60 countries, 24 have “graduated” from assistance. By enabling women and couples to have the number of children they want and helping them space their children safely, family planning programs have markedly improved maternal and child health across the globe.
