Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education (KEMRISTEKDIKTI) Director of Research and Community Services Prof. Dr. Ocky Karna Radjasa, M.Sc., and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Mission Director David Hoffman opened the first Collaboration for Innovation conference at Institut Pertanian Bogor International Convention Center yesterday. This is the first annual gathering of university partners and stakeholders of the USAID Sustainable Higher Education Research Alliance (SHERA) program, a collaborative research partnership program between select Indonesian and U.S. universities implemented with KEMRISTEKDIKTI.
The United States Embassy congratulates Dr. Ahmad Agus Setiawan and Dr. Muhammad Makky on their selection as fellows for the ASEAN Science and Technology (S&T) Fellowship 2018/2019, sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), ASEAN and the ASEAN Foundation. Dr. Setiawan and Dr. Makky were selected for their track record of achievements and potential to advance science-based policy-making in ASEAN.
Over three years, with support from the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER), Rohani Ambo-Rappe and her team of students collaborated with Susan Williams from the University of California at Davis to address this challenge. They set out to discover, in part, which seagrass species grows the fastest and survives the longest in support of Indonesia’s first major seagrass restoration effort: to cover over 30,900 square meters, nearly the size of six football fields, in Sulawesi with seagrass.

On Mother’s Day (December 22, 2017), the United States and Indonesia announced the launch of Jalin, a five-year $55 million project that will help save lives of the poorest and most vulnerable mothers and newborns in Indonesia.
Through Jalin, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Indonesian Ministry of Health (MOH) will improve the quality of maternal and newborn health services in public and private facilities.
