The overall objective of the internship is for the incumbent to gain an understanding of the education development issues from a donor perspective, to prepare him or her for employment or further education in the field of education development, and support USAID education programming.  This position will be based in the Education Development Office (EDO) within the Mission.  The incumbent reports directly to the EDO Mentor for matters relating to the internship program.

As per the Foreign Assistance Act (FAA) of 1961, as amended, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission in Nepal invites submission of concept papers and, if later requested, oral presentations in response to this NOFO. USAID issues this NOFO per the Automated Directive System (ADS) 303.3.5.2.a for a cooperative agreement to support the “Reading for All: Disability Inclusive Education for Nepali Children” project.

USAID/Nepal requests the services of a USPSC to support the unique and complex work of the Disaster Risk Reduction, Reconstruction, and Resilience (DR4) Office for two years with the possibility of three one-year extensions. The U.S. Mission in Nepal holds disaster risk reduction (DRR), earthquake reconstruction, and resilience as top priorities. USAID is supporting critical activities to 1) assist Nepal in managing risks before, during, and after natural disasters, and 2) rebuild and rehabilitate critical earthquake-damaged infrastructure.

The April and May 2015 earthquakes in Nepal damaged or destroyed over 755,000 homes, making housing the single largest reconstruction need and the Government of Nepal’s (GON) highest priority. USAID is funding a number of complementary initiatives to help meet this need and support the GON’s owner-driven housing reconstruction efforts. USAID has provided over $23.3million supporting to the housing sector to date.
