Vietnam’s 2017 Law to support SMEs comes into effect in January 2018. It stipulates policies and measures to improve the ease of doing business, and strengthen the capacity and efficiency of agencies and organizations to support SMEs in the country. To facilitate the law’s implementation, the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Agency for Enterprise Development and USAID’s Governance for Inclusive Growth Program gathered representatives from SMEs, and related ministries in a consultative workshop on August 28-29, to promote the new law, and gather their input to support the drafting of a decree that will guide the law’s implementation. So What? Successful implementation of the 2017 Law on Support of SMEs will facilitate private sector development and promote economic growth and inclusion in Vietnam.
