The following is attributable to Acting Spokesperson Tom Babington:
U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Middle East Bureau Assistant Administrator Mike Harvey visited Lebanon May 21-22. Harvey met with Lebanese business leaders and discussed mobilizing the private sector to meet immediate refugee-driven pressures, while addressing long-term development goals.
The delegation also met with USAID-assisted Lebanese youth, investors, and entrepreneurs to learn how USAID can support resilient communities as Lebanon rebuilds its physical, social, and economic infrastructure. Assistant Administrator Harvey concluded the trip with a commencement speech where he noted USAID has invested over $100 million in education initiatives in Lebanon over the past 10 years.
