The following is attributable to Acting Spokesperson Pooja Jhunjhunwala:
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green met on September 23, 2019, with Dr. Shinichi Kitaoka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Administrator Green and Dr. Kitaoka discussed shared priorities in the Indo-Pacific Region. The two officials shared views on how best to attract private business investment to smaller island nations in the Pacific, as well as how to offer strong, enterprise-driven development models that assist governments, civil society, and the private sector in partner countries on their Journey to Self-Reliance. Administrator Green thanked Dr. Kitaoka for Japan’s close collaboration, and expressed his desire to continue strengthening the partnership between USAID and JICA in the future.
