The following is attributable to Acting Spokesperson Tom Babington:
U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green, Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan, and Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump visited Asunción, Paraguay, on Friday, September 6, 2019. In Asunción, the delegation participated in a roundtable with women entrepreneurs who are partnering with USAID and the Peace Corps. In Paraguay, Advisor Trump and Administrator Green announced additional USAID W-GDP funding to support women’s economic empowerment, as well as additional funding to support and build the capacity of women-owned businesses and women entrepreneurs in the Americas. The delegation also met with Paraguayan President Mario Abdo Benítez and underscored the United States’ commitment to continued partnership that will help Paraguay to advance on the Journey to Self-Reliance.
The trip to Paraguay was part of a multi-country visit by the delegation to highlight women’s empowerment, which is critical to sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean and throughout the world.
