This grant supports community-based monitoring (CBM) of infrastructure projects as a means to empower citizens to oversee projects implemented in their communities. In addition to monitoring community infrastructure projects, the project aims to improve access to information regarding infrastructure projects to allow for improved quality and responsive service delivery; improve partnership with sub-national governments through Provincial Monitoring Boards and mutual information sharing mechanisms to prevent corruption and abuse of authority by aid implementers; and promote dialogue on the effectiveness and usefulness of this type of bottom-up accountability and transparency mechanism.
