La selva amazónica, la región más biodiversa de la Tierra, constituye más del 60% del territorio del Perú. En las últimas décadas, la tala ilegal y la deforestación se han intensificado y amenazan el futuro de la Amazonía peruana. USAID trabaja con el Gobierno Peruano para fortalecer su sector forestal y así combatir los delitos ambientales, las amenazas de seguridad relacionadas, defender el acuerdo de comercio bilateral, apoyar a los pueblos indígenas y administrar de manera sostenible los recursos forestales.
The Amazon rainforest, the most biodiverse region on Earth, constitutes more than 60 percent of Peru’s territory. In recent decades, illegal logging and deforestation has intensified and threaten future of the Peruvian Amazon. USAID works with the Government of Peru to strengthen its forest sector to combat environmental crimes and related security threats, uphold the bilateral trade agreement, support indigenous peoples, and sustainably manage forest resources.
El Perú ha experimentado un drástico aumento de inundaciones, prolongadas sequías y escasez de agua durante las temporadas secas, que han producido un impacto negativo en la agricultura, la migración, los conflictos sociales y el crecimiento económico. Para ayudar a las comunidades vulnerables a adaptarse a estos riesgos y cambios, USAID invierte en investigación e innovación sobre la seguridad hídrica y el clima para asegurar una disponibilidad de agua constante para el futuro.
Peru has seen a sharp increase in major flooding, prolonged droughts and scarcity in dry season water supplies, negatively impacting agriculture, migration, conflict and economic growth. To help vulnerable communities adapt to these risks and changes, USAID invests in climate and water security research and innovation to secure a consistent water supply for the future.
