From August 26 to September 2, 2017, six faculty members from Hue and Thai Nguyen Universities of Medicine and Pharmacy are being trained at Harvard Medical School in the U.S. on curriculum development for second year medical students. Apart from integrating lectures, skills lab, and case-based study, the immersion program also focuses on developing an instructional strategy to engage students in the learning process and help them develop a strong knowledge foundation. So what?  As USAID works to create world class models of higher education in Vietnam, this immersion trip will help the faculty members transition from traditional lecturers to moderators of an innovative new curriculum that fosters active learning, critical thinking and earlier clinical experience.
