Policy Impact Assessments are a key step in law development and a new requirement under Vietnam’s 2015 Law on Laws. On June 21-22, USAID’s Governance for Inclusive Growth (GIG) program trained government officials from Central and Southern Vietnam provinces on how to assess the social, economic, administrative procedure, gender, and legal system impact of laws, using the Policy Impact Assessment Manual GIG and MOJ developed in 2016. So what? Policy Impact Assessments help agencies put forth higher quality laws which are more relevant and context appropriate.
