On September 15, USAID’s Governance for Inclusive Growth Program collaborated with the Ministry of Justice to organize a National Legal Forum to discuss Vietnam’s efforts to increase access to justice for poor people and other vulnerable groups. Discussions included the 2017 Law on Legal Aid (which guarantees citizens equal access to justice); the 2013 Law on Grassroots Mediation (which provides support to vulnerable populations by electing and certifying local household representatives); and legislation relating to justice for victims of gender-based violence. So What? As USAID works with Vietnam to improve its legal and regulatory framework, multi-stakeholder fora to assess policy frameworks fosters a more transparent and accountable legal system by promoting greater information sharing and collaboration, which also helps protect citizens’ rights and promote inclusion.
