Kipp Sutton is USAID/Eastern and Southern Caribbean’s (ESC) General Development Office Director. He oversees USAID/ESC's Youth, Citizen Security, Climate Resilience, Disaster Risk Reduction & Recovery, Education, and Governance programs covering Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
The USAID/ESC General Development Office's five-year, $120 million portfolio supports regional foreign policy priorities: the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) to reduce crime & violence, Caribbean Energy Security Initiative to increase energy access, and Basic Education focused on early grade literacy. It also includes marine biodiversity conservation, democratic strengthening and resource management in Guyana, juvenile justice reform and capacity building for local solutions.
Kipp has worked in International Development for over 18 years in Southeast Asia, Nepal, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Paraguay and Bolivia. Kipp enjoys bringing a private sector lens to development activities and is energized by the creative spirit of the youth he engages. His graduate studies were in International Development and Soil Science at the University of California, Davis.
