USAID Celebrates Commercialization of Smallholder Beef and Dairy Production

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and partner Fintrac, marked the successful completion of the five-year Feed the Future Livestock Development program at a virtual event on September 16, 2020 under the theme: Celebrating Commercialization of Smallholder Beef and Dairy Production.

July 10, 1954, marks the start of the partnership between the United States and other nations to help feed the world’s hungry and improve food security for future generations.  Since then, USAID has reached more than four billion food insecure people, touching the lives of vulnerable populations around the world.

As part of a media initiative to empower adolescent girls and young women in Sub-Saharan Africa, the USAID funded the production of the feature-length film, Shaina.

As part of a media initiative to empower adolescent girls and young women in Sub-Saharan Africa, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the production of the feature-length film, Shaina, premiering on ZBC-TV on August 21 at 9PM and 23 at 10PM.  Shaina brings together the best of Zimbabwe’s known talent, including Jesesi Mungoshi, Leroy Gopal, Edmore Sandifolo, Marian Kunonga, and Charmaine Mujeri, alongside a host of refreshing young Zimbabwean actors.

The United States Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. State Department, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has provided more than $19 million to help Zimbabwe respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The assistance focuses on preventing and controlling COVID-19 infections, providing reliable health information, maintaining vital health services, increasing humanitarian assistance, and improving access to safe drinking-water, sanitation, and hygiene.

The United States is providing $60.55 million to feed nearly one million Zimbabweans in the upcoming lean season.

The United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), will provide $60.55 million toward the World Food Programme’s (WFP) 2020/21 Lean Season Food Assistance program in Zimbabwe.  The lean season assistance will begin in August and will feed nearly one million people during the peak of the season, from January to April 2021.
