At USAID’s Center for Innovation and Impact (CII), we prioritize transformative and innovative approaches to solving the most pressing global health challenges. To do this, CII utilizes expertise across a variety of technical areas such as innovation scaling, market shaping, innovative finance, and digital health solutions. Throughout our work we have seen the added utility of sharing this knowledge so that more global health practitioners can employ innovative solutions to common health challenges. We hope to promote greater uptake of these business-minded approaches through publicly available e-Learning courses. Throughout, learners will engage with succinct text, embedded videos, interactive case studies, animations, and downloadable resources. You can follow along with the CII team members as they walk learners through these interactive, informative, and fun training modules. Explore CII’s e-Learning courses below to learn more about the various tools CII uses to create impact.
Market Shaping and Introduction Planning for Global Health
This one-hour e-learning course will prepare USAID staff to utilize market shaping and strategic planning to improve access to global health products. Learners will review a market shaping pathway to guide decision-making about health interventions and examine the stages of strategic planning that support introduction and scale up of global health products. At the end of this course, learners will understand how to apply market shaping and scale for impact concepts and tools in their own contexts and where to access additional resources to further engage with these topics.
Innovative Finance for Global Health
This 45-minute e-learning course will prepare USAID staff to utilize innovative financing approaches to accelerate and improve global health outcomes. Learners will understand the trends in global health financing and the new partners that USAID can engage with to address the funding gap for health. Learners will examine how potential innovative financing and blended finance approaches can improve health outcomes. At the end of this course, learners will understand the importance of innovative financing to global health, be able to apply a six-step guidance tool to help assess the potential use of blended finance instruments for a given health challenge, and recognize how to access resources and support for additional information.
Innovation Realized
This 30-minute e-learning course will prepare USAID staff to utilize innovation to accelerate and improve their processes and programs to enhance global health outcomes. Learners will engage with the elements of the Innovation Realized guide to recognize how USAID defines innovation, why it is important, when to use it, and how to apply it in different types of USAID projects and situations. By the end of this course, learners will understand the importance of innovation in global health, be able to apply innovation in different contexts within their work, and recognize how to access resources and support for additional information.
Introduction to Digital Health
This 30-minute e-learning course will help development practitioners understand the meaning of digital health, challenges with past approaches to digital health investments, and the need for a revised approach to digital health planning, investments, and use. This course will guide learners through four strategic recommendations to consider in the funding, design, implementation, and/or evaluation of health programs. By the end of this course, learners will understand how the strategic use of digital health can enhance health programs, data, and outcomes. Through interactive elements and examples, learners will also recognize how more strategic approaches to digital health can improve decision-making, sustainability, and local ownership of health data.
