The Democratic Republic of the Congo, the largest country in Francophone Africa, has vast natural resources. It has the potential to become one of the richest countries on the African continent and a driver of African growth if it can overcome its political instability. The persistent presence of armed groups, and ongoing insecurity continues to destabilize eastern DRC. Other challenges include rampant corruption, inadequate infrastructure and human resources, and a limited capacity to raise and manage revenues. Our programs encourage a more stable democracy with a healthier, better-educated population benefiting from peace and security.
