USAID is proud to announce a new $23 million, five-year award: Feed the Future Democratic Republic of the Congo Value Chains activity. The goal is to increase household incomes and access to nutrient rich crops by linking 60,000 small-holder farmers in South Kivu to markets and suppliers. The activity will increase specialty coffee production and exports to increase farmer incomes, while also marketing nutritious crops such as beans to reduce malnutrition.

USAID programs strengthen the ability of the Government of the DRC and civil society organizations to deliver basic services and encourage greater citizen participation in political processes. Our assistance supports free, fair, and credible elections and improves access to information so that citizens may participate fully in the democratic process, and make more informed decisions.
USAID’s education activities support the Ministry of Education as well as three other Ministries (Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Youth and New Citizenship, and Ministry of Professional Training) to increase access, equity, retention, and also improve the quality and relevance of education for Congolese youth. This work is achieved by working with local civil society organizations, the private sector, and both formal and non-formal education centers. All education activities integrate gender and empowerment activities.
