U.S. Ambassador Stephen Beecroft today hosted a multimedia exhibition celebrating the U.S. government’s partnership with the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE). This exhibit featured photos and film footage highlighting antiquities preservation supported by the U.S. government in partnership with the Ministry of Antiquities and implemented by ARCE.
USAID’s Strengthening Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development (SEED) project will offer technical support to business service providers, entrepreneurs, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to help develop new business ideas, strengthen essential business development services, introduce new financial tools, and enhance financial literacy and management. SEED will also focus on improving access to essential financing, information, and technology; reducing bureaucratic procedures; addressing policies that impact ease of doing business; and expanding and improving public one-stop shops responsible for business registration and licensing.
Through the Workforce Improvement and Skills Enhancement (WISE) project, USAID will improve technical secondary education to meet the needs of the job market, benefiting vocational school students and teachers as well as the private sector. The project will establish partnerships between businesses and technical schools in order to understand skills needed for employment – reducing the current skills mismatch, creating a pool of qualified candidates, and linking students with jobs. WISE will also improve the performance of the private sector through in-house training and improved human resource strategies that reduce staff turnover. It will seek to build the capacity of business associations to advocate for policy and regulatory reforms related to labor market efficiency.
