With more than 20,000 visitors and S/ 30 million soles in commercial transactions, the tenth Salón del Cacao y Chocolate came to an end. It was a unique opportunity for people, businessmen and chocolate lovers to appreciate the best Peruvian chocolates in just one place.
In July 11th the Salón was inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture, Fabiola Muñoz and the U. S. Ambassador to the Republic of Peru, Krishna R. Urs, who inaugurated the American pavilion as well, since the United States was honored as the host country this year.
In this occasion there were 170 stands with chocolate, cacao producers and specialized equipment. Also during the Salón was held the V National Chocolate Contest with 300 chocolate samples registered and the overall winners were Tinkiy and Maraná brands.
The Salón del Cacao y Chocolate is the most important national event for the cacao sector in Peru. Every year since 2009 it has brought together global buyers, industry experts and cacao producers, facilitating sales and helping boost the reputation of Peruvian cacao and chocolate.
The Salón’s organizing committee includes representatives from the Government of Peru, the Peruvian Cacao Producer Association (APPCACAO) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). USAID has worked with the committee since the Salón’s inception to support this event as an important way to bolster the Peruvian chocolate industry and increase domestic consumption of chocolate in Peru.
