Belgrade – On October 10 and 11, over 100 exhibitors from the fruit, vegetable, meat, and dairy industries showcased their premium food products at the second Belgrade Food Show. Organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Competitive Economy Project, in partnership with the Association for the Promotion of Serbian Food, this event helps exhibitors identify investment opportunities and develop new sales contracts and business partnerships.
“Among the many exhibitors, you will find over 20 innovative companies with unique products that are part of the Premium Food Design Hub and the dm Incubator. USAID supported both initiatives by providing these firms with technical assistance and expertise so they could refine their products and get them ready for retail and supermarket shelves," said USAID Acting Mission Director, Shanley Pinchotti.
"Our food is Serbia’s brand, in the same way famous Serbian’s are - as Novak Đoković or Nikola Tesla. Our food is our gold, and as long as we have fairs like this one, Serbia will continue to live and develop,”, said Deputy Prime Minister of the Serbian Government, Zorana Mihajlović.
The USAID Competitive Economy Project partnered with the Association for the Promotion of Serbian Food to create a sustainable platform for showcasing Serbia’s innovative, high-quality premium food products, and to raise the international profile of the country’s specialty food scene. During the first Belgrade Food Show in 2018, over 80 exhibiting companies established partnerships and new sales contracts with buyers, retailers, and distributors from 11 countries. The second Belgrade Food Show provides an excellent opportunity for Serbian’s niche and specialty food producers to increase their market exposure and connect with leading domestic and foreign retailers.
