Belgrade – On December 11, 2018, USAID’s Government Accountability Initiative (GAI) presented the results of the 2018 nationwide survey of Serbian citizens’ perceptions of efforts of all branches of government to combat corruption.
BELGRADE – On December 6, 2018, USAID’s Competitive Economy Project held a networking brunch and a panel discussion to mark the completion of the first cycle of the Premium Food Design Hub (PFDH) initiative, launched to kick-start innovation in Serbia’s food processing industry. Over the past eight months, four hubs - Impact Hub, Nova Iskra, Desing Taste Center and Business Innovation Programs - worked with 20 food producers to develop new, premium products targeting consumers in domestic and international markets.
Belgrade, November 16 – The mayors of Šabac, Vranje, Sombor, Vrnjačka Banja, Sjenica, Raška, and Dimitrovgrad, along with Mr. Mike de la Rosa, Director of USAID Serbia, signed Memoranda of Cooperation today to increase transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement in decision making in order to decrease corruption. Mr. Branko Ruzic, Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government witnessed the signings, and representatives from the State Audit Institution and the Anti-Corruption Agency joined the event to show their support.
Belgrade – On November 5 and 6, 2018, over 80 exhibitors from the fruit, vegetable, meat and dairy industries showcased their premium food products at the first annual Belgrade Food Show. Organized by the Unites States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Association for the Promotion of Serbian, the food show helped exhibitors forge new sales contracts, develop business partnerships, and identify investment opportunities.
Belgrade - On May 15, 2018, the United States Government and the Government of Serbia signed agreements under which the United States will provide $22 million in assistance to Serbia. These funds will be used to help make Serbia's economy more competitive, strengthen the rule of law, bolster government operations, improve the media regulatory environment, and combat corruption.
Belgrade – On April 25, 2018, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the European Movement in Serbia released the Gray Book of Public Services. The Gray Book contains research findings about Serbia’s public services and recommendations for improving their quality, efficiency and accessibility. The book is one of the results of the USAID-funded Partnership for Good Governance activity, which was implemented by the European Movement in Serbia and the Center for European Policy.
TUTIN – On April 12, 2018, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a U.S. government agency, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Serbia inaugurated a new, 200 cubic meter reservoir in Tutin.
On March 28, and the U.S. Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Government of Serbia celebrated the accomplishments of the recenly completed Private Sector Development (PSD) project. PSD was a $4 million activity that helped businesses and entrepreneurs in south and southwest Serbia develop and grow. The project was a direct partnership between USAID and the Development Agency of Serbia.
On December 13, 2017, the Judicial Academy and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a U.S. government agency, celebrated the accomplishments and marked the closure of the two-and–a-half-year, $500,000, Judicial Academy support project.
