United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Deputy Administrator Bonnie Glick met September 23, 2019, with Dr. Seth Berkley, the CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Deputy Administrator Glick thanked Dr. Berkley for Gavi’s continued and long-standing partnership with USAID and outstanding impact in reaching more than 760 million children with life-saving vaccines since 2000. She congratulated Dr. Berkley on the successful launch of Gavi’s 2021-2025 Strategy and Investment Case at the Tokyo International Conference on African Development in August of this year.
On September 25, Secretary Pompeo announced in New York nearly $119 million in additional humanitarian assistance to further demonstrate the United States’ commitment and solidarity with the Venezuelan people and the region in response to the Maduro-made Venezuela crisis. This amount includes nearly $36 million for life-saving aid inside Venezuela.
