USAID continues to build government capacity: USAID’s SEPPA project partner, the International Republican Institute (IRI), is working to build capacity among government and the parliament to strengthen their institutional capacity to devise and implement data-based and responsive policies and improve strategic communications.
USAID’s goal for the 2020-2025 Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) is to build Armenia’s capacity and further its commitment to self-reliance so that it seizes the opportunity to strategically transition to a more inclusive, democratic, and economically resilient partner. To achieve this goal, USAID will seek to advance the democratic transition set in motion by the peaceful “Velvet Revolution” in 2018 and enhance Armenia’s economic security.
Armenia’s ancient wine-making tradition is at last on the map. The central region of Vayots Dzor in Armenia has long been home to vineyards, traditional cuisine, and rich culture. With the help of USAID/Armenia’s My Armenia program, the Vayots Dzor Wine Route no longer requires visitors to pore over maps or search from town to town: the tourist attraction is now marked clearly with prominent road signs along the M10 highway and throughout the region.
It’s no secret that Mariam Aslamazyan’s personal mission in life is “to fix the role of the woman artist in patriarchal Soviet-Armenian society.” This is the mission that drives artists Mariam, and her sister Eranuhi who own and operate their gallery in Gyumri, a town in Armenia’s northern Shirak region.
