As part of its broader effort to promote social inclusion for marginalized youth, USAID provided assistance to Student UNTZ, the University of Tuzla’s Women’s Volleyball Club, which trains young women and girls, including Roma and other socially excluded youth, in volleyball sports. Through its Marginalized Populations Support Program, USAID provided team t-shirts, trainers, tracksuits, volleyballs and other sports equipment.

The ‘Lično (Personal): Portraits of War Victims’ exhibition is the work of Bosnian photographer Velija Hasanbegovic. These photos serve as symbols of humanity and courage and a powerful, permanent reminder of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) collective will to survive the 1992-1995 war, even today. The war victims featured refuse to let bitterness and pain get the better of them, opting instead to transform their traumatic experiences into wisdom. Each photo is accompanied by text written by the individual, such as:

USAID’s Monitoring and Evaluation project (MEASURE) provided the latest in its extensive series of training to develop a local cadre of local research experts that can conduct independent, high-quality, evidence-based evaluations for policy- and other decision-making in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
