In partnership with the Ministry of Education and the American University in Cairo, on July 22 the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Ain Shams University inaugurated the third career center at the university. The new career center adds to the existing support provided by the U.S. government for the future of education and employment in Egypt.
Today, the U.S. Government through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PepsiCo Egypt to expand cooperation between USAID and PepsiCo’s subsidiary Chipsy for Food Industries to improve farmer livelihoods. Specifically, the joint program will increase transparency and sustainability in the potato supply chain. Mr. Thomas Goldberger, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires; Mr. Mohamed Shelbaya, CEO of PepsiCo Egypt; and Ms. Sherry Carlin, the USAID Mission Director in Egypt participated in the event.
Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MOETE), and private sector partners celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of students from Egyptian technical schools’ logistics programs in Ismailia and Port-Said.
Today, students at Zagazig University have additional resources to prepare for and find jobs after they graduate. Zagazig University inaugurated three Centers for Career Development through a partnership between the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Ministry of Higher Education, and the American University in Cairo. These Centers will have dedicated resources to offer students a chance to explore paths to successful careers in established industries, to improve their skills, and to network with Egypt’s leading companies.
There are an estimated 200,000 refugees and asylum seekers in Egypt, more than half of whom are from Syria and 40 percent of whom are children. The overall objective of this activity is to ensure that vulnerable refugee children and youth, as well as their peers in the host community in Egypt, have access to quality formal and non-formal education services in safe learning environments. The program aims to strengthen community-based approaches to education to ensure greater enrollment of Syrian children.
