Okuu Keremet! (Learning is Awesome!) is a project designed to help improve learning outcomes in reading and math among 300,000 students in grades 1-4 in 1,687 target schools in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The USAID Cure Tuberculosis Project is an $18.5 million investment over five years that will assist the Kyrgyz government to diagnose, treat, and cure people with drug-resistant tuberculosis.
The U.S. government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is granting more than 66 million soms ($913,000) to three specialized organizations to increase the Kyrgyz Republic’s ability to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The focus will be on infection control, disease prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and public information. These priority areas and interventions were designed in consultations with the Ministry of Health and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In an official ceremony today, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) handed over personal protective equipment to the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic. This donation is part of the United States’ early assistance to prepare for any potential spread of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus disease, within the Kyrgyz Republic.
The only freely-elected democracy in Central Asia, the Kyrgyz Republic faces pressure from malign influencers in the region that threaten local and regional stability. To consolidate hard-won democratic gains and foster long-term resilience, the United States partners with the Kyrgyz Republic to strengthen democratic governance, accelerate economic growth and improve health and education.
