To improve municipal infrastructures and services, the project works with local governments to carry out local needs assessments and prioritize activities that have the greatest health and social impacts. The project improves municipal services such as waste management, water supply, wastewater treatment, and social and health services. The upgraded services benefit the local populations and migrants currently staying in or near the affected municipalities.
Subotica – On May 12, 2017, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a U.S. government agency, donated two mobile electrocardiogram (EKG) machines to the Subotica Public Health Center, which oversees health services for the entire Subotica municipality. The EKG machines will enable health professionals working at facilities in the villages of Bajmok and Ćantavir to diagnose the needs of patients seeking emergency medical care.
On April 28, 2017, the United States and the Government of Serbia signed amendments to two bi-lateral assistance agreements.
On March 17, 2017 the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation with the support of USAID, a U.S. government agency marked the closure of the Divac Youth Fund project at the “Youth in Charge” Conference.
Belgrade – On March 15, 2017, over 70 representatives from the parliament, public and private sectors, independent institutions, local governments, disabled people’s organizations, and election monitoring organizations participated in the National Conference on Political Participation of Persons with Disabilities. The Conference marked the closure of the Center for Independent Living’s (CIL) Strengthening Political Participation of Persons with Disabilities project funded by USAID, a U.S. government agency.
