Serbia’s Primary Schools and Students to Benefit from Second National Day of Giving

Belgrade, August 19, 2019 – Primary schools and students will be the main beneficiaries of the the National Day of Giving, which will be marked this year on October 9. All donations collected during this fundraising campaign will be used to purchase learning tools for children in more than 60 pimary schools in 30 municipalities throughout Serbia.  Participating primary schools stand to receive new smartboards, laptop computers, projectors, and educational learning tools for young learning, including so-called “bee bot” robots.

The Serbian Constitution guarantees Serbian citizens the right to a trial within a reasonable amount of time. This right has also been guaranteed to Serbian citizens at the international level since 2004, when Serbia became a member of the Council of Europe and a signatory to the European Convention of Human Rights.  Since this time, Serbian citizens have also had the possibility to file a complaint related to violations of their right to trial in a reasonable time against the Serbian Government in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

U.S. Government Provides $20.8 Million in New Assistance to Serbia

Belgrade - On July 8, 2019, the United States Government and the Government of Serbia signed agreements under which the United States will provide $20.8 million in assistance to Serbia. These funds will be used to continue helping make Serbia's economy more competitive, strengthen the rule of law, bolster government operations, improve the environment for media, and to combat corruption.
